A downloadable game

Sky Pirates of Etalmar is an upcoming arcade aerial dogfighting game with a single-player campaign, splitscreen multiplayer, and (hopefully eventually) online multiplayer!  In this demo you can play the first two missions from the campaign and 2-4 player splitscreen in one of the local versus multiplayer modes.

The splitscreen multiplayer features bot support to fill in for missing players!  Try starting a game for more players than you have controllers plugged in and they will automatically join.

Controls:

  • Analogue stick/D-pad to move
  • Right trigger/A to shoot.  The gun can overheat, so watch your yellow heat bar!
  • Left trigger/B for acrobatics.  Fly faster, turn tighter, and do loop-the-loops when holding back on the stick, but you have limited stamina, so watch your green stamina bar!

This demo was released as a submission to the DreamDisc '24 Game Jam.

This game works on real Dreamcast hardware, and I can also confirm it works in the Flycast emulator.

Install instructions

This game is intended to be played on the Sega Dreamcast.

The .cdi file can be burned onto a CD, played with an optical drive emulator, or played with a serial port SD adapter.  I have only tested the first method, so please let me know if you have any issues!

It can also be played in an emulator. I have confirmed it works in Flycast but have not tested other emulators.

Stunning. I think I'm going to have to watch Porco Rosso again after playing this ha. Movement maybe felt a tiny bit fast for me, but that might be me getting older at this point.
Excited to play the final version!

Thanks!  The movement is pretty fast.  I appreciate you trying it out!

i loved this demo, looking forward to more!

Thanks!  I'm glad you enjoyed the demo!

This looks interesting. When do you target a full release?

Thanks!  I would like to finish it within 6 months, but there are still a lot of things I have left to do, so that's a tentative estimate.
